Whelp, 2020 is officially over and we’re now into 2021. With so much going on in the world and our individual lives, our minds can tend to wander away from Jesus and wander onto worldly things.

To help keep your mind focused on Jesus I just want to share a few verses of scripture with you that you can use to think about this year and get your mind refocused on the One that matters.

“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” -Jesus speaking (Luke 9:23)

This makes a great prayer to start your morning, especially since Jesus tells us to pick up our cross DAILY and follow.

“Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the mind set on the flesh is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.” -Romans 8:5-8

I love this passage! We either have our minds set on the flesh or set on the Spirit. What’s your mind set on?

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” -Romans 12:2

Ah, “…be transformed by the RENEWING of your mind.” We must renew our minds! How do we do this? By redirecting our thoughts.

“But seek first God’s kingdom and his righteousness…” -Jesus speaking (Matthew 6:33)

Here, Jesus was talking about worrying and how we need to seek first God’s kingdom and his righteousness and that he’ll supply our needs. There’s many things we can worry about in this world, but we need to continue to seek God’s kingdom above the things of this world.

The above verses continue to help me refocus my thought life when it starts to wander onto the things of this world. There’s just so much distraction going on that we need to be careful what we think about as we go about our day.

So fill your minds with the things above and redirect your focus on to Jesus!
