Have you ever been about to do something wrong and then some words from scripture pop into your head?

Well, it’s happened to me plenty of times.  Maybe I’m about to gossip about something I just heard, or maybe I get angry about something, and then “poof” scripture comes to my mind to correct me.  Stops me cold in my tracks (People have actually asked me if I was about to say something else) because God’s Word comes to my mind and stops me.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” -2 Timothy 3:16-17

Now, how does God’s Word come to my mind?  By studying it.  Meditating on it.  Binding the words to my heart.

Here’s what Joshua has to say in Joshua 1:8…

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.  Then you will be prosperous and successful.” -Joshua 1:8

Joshua is saying DO NOT let it depart from your mouth.  He also says to meditate on it DAY and NIGHT.

In Matthew 4:4, even Jesus said, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'”

If you don’t read the Bible, then how are you supposed to fight back when you’re about to do something wrong?

Remember, God’s Word is the sword to use in spiritual combat against Satan (Ephesians 6:17).

Bind God’s Word into your heart and meditate on it day and night!

Keep spreading the Word!
