So I was going to my Bible Study downtown yesterday, and it was around 10:45am so there wasn’t really any traffic.

I’m driving along and the parking garage is full so I’m driving by the square to go around so I can valet.  Well, I’m at a red light and there’s one car in front of me.  As I’m just waiting there I see a bicycler come up next to my car, put out his fist, and hit my passenger side mirror as he rode by.  WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!!!!

My first thought was to run him over with my car (very nice, David…), but I kept my cool and couldn’t help but think of what Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’  But I tell you, do not resist an evil person.  If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also……. Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you…”

You know, I don’t know what’s going on in that guy’s life, but I can tell you I’m sure he’s struggling with something.  So, what else could I do besides pray for him?

It’s easy to get mad at someone who wrongs you.  But the right thing to do is love, forgive, and pray for those who wrong you.  It ain’t easy, but it’s what our Father in Heaven wants.

The Christian life is an impossible life.  That’s why we need Jesus in our lives.

“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ lend to ‘sinners,’ expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” -Luke 6:32-36

Oh, and incase you were wondering, my mirror is just fine.  🙂
